WAR?

The main points of what Russia is doing now:

• Russia is forcibly occupying the territories of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
• Russia has already invaded Ukraine in 2014 and is forcibly occupying a large part of its territory.
• Russian aggression in Ukraine has killed more than 15,000 people. They would have lived differently if Russia had not bought Ukraine.
• Russia has no right to dictate to other countries where they want to belong.
• Russia is cutting Ukraine economically and energetically.
• Russia has demonstrably assembled a huge invading army on Ukraine's borders.
• Russia will now launch a fake operation, produce an incident that Ukraine may be responsible for, and then launch another huge invasion of Ukraine.

Western powers have been terrified of global conflicts since the end of World War I, the horrors of which led statesmen to a series of international peace conventions and so-called appeasement policies. The slogans "negotiate rather than attack" remain with the power to this day. However, it is uncertain whether this approach is sustainable forever.

Most Western states condemned Crimea's accession to the Russian Federation with the help of military force in 2014 as violent and illegal, but in line with a cautious policy of non-interference in foreign affairs, Russia only emerged from this situation with symbolic sanctions.

What do we have nuclear weapons for when we don't use them?

So Russia is unlikely to start World War III, at least not in terms of global armed conflict. It is much safer for Putin to launch cyber attacks against the West, to send secret agents and to hammer everything.
